Josephine “Jo”Allyn Johnson Casler died June 17, 2016 in Richmond, Va. Jo was born June 14, 1930 in Rocky Mount N.C. Her husband, DeWitt Bellinger Casler, Jr. “Casey,” predeceased her. She was the daughter of the late Eula Faison Johnson and Gleamous Joseph Johnson of Franklin, Virginia. She received her bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from Mary Washington College in 1951. She was a Nationally Accredited Master Flower Show Judge. From 1989-1991 she served as President of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. and its Nature Camp (Jo was responsible for hiring Philip Coulling as the Executive Director for Nature Camp), and as President of the Piedmont District and Thomas Jefferson Garden Clubs. She was a member of the River Road Church Baptist, and its Lydia Class. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Noel Casler Luxton and her husband, Scott, of Richmond; son Edward Ashley Johnson Casler “Ted,” of Abingdon, Va.; Grandchildren, Lindsey Bellinger, Claire Maxine and Allie Marie Luxton of Richmond, Va., Garrett DeWitt, Caroline Elizabeth and Stuart Roussel Casler of Abingdon, Va.
